It was a long yet easily winding road:

We were able to fill up on cold beverages in little places along the way:

flowers

Since we were hauling too many water melons and one of them was just about to go bad, we decided to drop it right there:

Almost as much fun as eating!

We were still in the river delta northwest of Yumen, so everything around us remained fertile and green:

water and field

There were people outside doing their things:

shepherds crossing a small river

There was no way this flock of sheep would cross the water. the shepherds tried and tried. But none of the sheep would have it.
So one of the shepherds got a tiny little lamb and waded across to the other shore. He sat down with the lamb and waited for it to bleat.
Soon enough we heard a faint “baa, baa”, and within minutes, the whole flock of sheep had crossed the water to be with the lamb.
Apparently, they wanted to protect their own.
One time we had to cross an underpass that suffered from some kind of water leakage:

flooded road

It was pretty disgusting, and our poor, poor Robozwerg got his feet all wet.

The rest of the way…

sun and clouds

…was easy…

…or pancakes.

I could have killed for a pancake.

Robozwerg says:

“…you really don’t want to know what kind of stuff was in that water.”

Respekt!
