This is a post about the last preparations I made before continuing my walk from Sinop. I was very nervous.

I woke up early and found it impossible to go back to sleep, no matter how hard I tried. The nerves, the nerves. After an hour or so I decided go get up and take a shower. For me, a shower using shampoo and conditioner and a brush takes a bit of time. That would keep me busy for a while.

My friends made omelette for breakfast and entrusted me with the responsibility of making orange juice. Then, having stuffed myself silly on the omelette, I collapsed on the couch and proclaimed: we shall go outside in thirty minutes!

There was a lot to do outside: we had to check on the tyres of the Caboose, possibly fix them and buy a new air pump, do some grocery shopping, sort through my old equipment…

I woke up one and a half hours later.

And yet in the late afternoon, when we returned to the apartment, we had somehow managed to get everything done. We had even looked at the cliffs where people would sometimes spot dolphins in the water. I had even bought a bottle of Istanblue vodka and updated the review on SlowerPulse.

As we returned home, I asked myself if I was ready.

preparations never help

The Caboose was ready. Her tyres were ready. The air pump was ready. My tent and my sleeping bags, they were ready. Everything was ready, except for me.

There was this nervousness in me, this knowledge of not being ready. I knew this feeling from before. I knew it from the First Day of walking in November 2007. Or from that day in August 2012 when I went back to where the police had caught me in September 2010. From the time when I crossed the border into Kazakhstan in July 2016

I had never been ready.
