Every morning I go out for a little walk, up here in space. Of course I need to put on a space suit and gravity boots and leave the space station first, but that’s okay. I walk the exact same distance every morning, 4.5 kilometers. There’s a family of Canada geese, or space geese, around here, and sometimes they yell at me to give them food, but mostly they seem to be busy waddling around looking for space bugs or space worms or whatever.

Recently I got this tennis ball:

I take it with me every morning. Sometimes I bounce it off the ground, sometimes I squeeze it lightly between my fingers.

It makes me happy.

I don’t know why.

Hi Chris, I write this from the comfort of a house in suburban Australia in the last warm rays of sunlight on a winters day. There is no snow. Here, each day the sky is blue and the sun shines down brightly. A German might think it is summer.

I loved stumbling onto your video ‘The Longest Way” today and although I should be working, today I have rested and replenished. I will send you a pic from our morning walk. It was good. Sometimes, I wish I could walk forever.
