Today, on my way back from yoga class, I looked up and noticed this statue at the station:


It was a hundred years old, born in a time when Germany was still an “empire”, and it reminded me of another eagle statue I had seen one and a half years earlier, somewhere in the steppe of Kazakhstan.

Why was it with these birds and the way nations liked to use them as symbols?

And why was that shitty song “Hotel California” so popular anyway?
