I was going to get my shot today. So naturally, I hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. I basically just lay there on my bed, overcome by fear. Of course it wasn’t going to be a particularly dangerous procedure or anything. But I was easily intimidated.
So I felt a bit groggy when I got up and walked past the athletics field to the train station:
Once I was at the doctor’s office in the city, I was told to wait. Seeing that they had squeezed me into their schedule, I prepared myself for an hour or two of waiting. But they called me in after fifteen minutes.
There was a little room where I was told to dress down to my underwear, and then they handed me this thing and said: “put it here!”
Okay. I was led into a room with a CT scanner, where I was told to lay down. At this point, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.
“Ahem…” I asked into the room, “can someone please hold my hand?”
