When I went on my first walking trip in the summer of 2003, I hardly took any photos at all. That meant I was free to roam as I wanted, not weighed down by the responsibilities of having to document the experience and take care of the equipment.

Looking back, I wish I had more footage from that trip.

I’ve been trying to do a better job at documenting my journeys ever since. On this leg of The Longest Way, I am using two DSLRs, an action cam, a gimbal cam, a drone, and two cell phones. I try to shoot photo in RAW format and video in 4K.

This means that I am accumulating lots and lots of data. I’ve been splitting them up on different hard drives, but that felt confusing, so now I am using this rather large hard-drive that I have set up at home:
