I slept for a long time, and then I went out:

Astana was nice around Christmas: the lights, the dry cold, the sound of crunching snow.

I went and found a place where you could have food and make drawings on the tablecloth at the same time:

So I ordered a crêpe with mushrooms…

…and a salad that came in a bowl made of what looked like a dried crêpe:

And to top it all off, I ordered a crêpe au chocolat:

For those who might be wondering what I was reading: “Radical” by Maajid Nawaz. I am not sure yet if I like it or not.

Then I bought some groceries and went back to my hotel.

My room had a large window overlooking the city:

So I did what any 65-year-old would do: I took a shower, put on a bathrobe, and sat down next to the window, eating pomelo, drinking vodka with pomegranate, looking at the city and the fireworks:

I drank only very little, but I ate a whole bunch of pomelo.

And this is how the year 2017 started.
