only the brave
Munich is definitely renown for its beer garden culture: large people sitting around large tables drinking ridiculously large beers. I have spent two years in this town before, but I’ve never really been to a Biergarten before: It just never seemed like my kind of thing. Nevertheless, today my good friend Louise decided to take […]
oh, how I love a good barbeque
In the green outskirts of the city: (oh, how I love a good barbeque) In a world of gardens: (oh, how I love a good barbeque) …not far from the turnpike, where the spirit of youth was setting out to conquer all highways: (oh, how I love a good barbeque) …my very good friend Bower […]
I think it’s pretty obvious by now: My posts in Germany are mainly about food. These two pics feature a local special: “Hackepeter” – minced meat (on bread): Notice Juli’s expression turning from laughter to disbelief, as if she was thinking: how gross!! … Later that day I got a rhubarb cake: Smile, it’s been […]
2 appointments & an opinion on bread
I went to my orthopaedist today to have him check on my joints and my posture: He said that he couldn’t find any problems at all. Good. Then I went to have my arch support inlays checked: Same here: Very satisfying results. Excellent. Juli and I celebrated with some cake in a small bakery: Then […]
There’s a large public park in the northern part of the city: It’s called English Garden, and besides young families, nudists, and people walking their dogs, it’s mainly populated by students from the university campus nearby: One thing about the English Garden that I have never quite managed to figure out was this: The Chinese […]
Blue skies, easiness. The city had a nice and clean feel to it: While grocery shopping, I found a place that somehow magically had my all-time favorite soda pop: I had never planned on selling my soul to corporate advertisement (and I never did) – but hey: Drinking this always makes me so happy!
I had to get up at 5am to make it to the airport on time. My old shoes: …suddenly faced early retirement. I didn’t miss them. My first walk into the airplane and then out of the airplane today ended in Beijing: Then I had to pick up my luggage to transfer to my second […]
My ticket was made out for May 5th at 08:10 in the morning, and I had a full day left before that. So today, I took another long walk around town to pass the time and get used to my new shoes: I had originally set out to find a post office and mail photographs […]
what am I going to call this one?
I’m not sure why, but it was already past four in the afternoon when I eventually made up my mind to go outside. I had to get some photos fixed on paper to send to some people, so there I was in a small copy shop: Chinese young people (much like other young people all […]
au bord de l’eau
I took my new shoes for a little stroll downtown today: Walking without constant pain felt very nice, but I found that there were certain others who had iteven better than me: Why don’t I have anyone to carry me home like that? Pure envy on my part: So anyway I saw the Yellow River […]
new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes new shoes
Oh yeah, finally: New trekking poles: And NEW SHOES: They feel lighter than my old ones, maybe more like shoes than boots. It feels good wearing them, but I guess I’ll only be able to pass some kind of judgement after a few days on the trail. For now, I feel very hopeful and… …happy!
