This post is about a 23km walk from Dongyang to Taigu. I see lots of sheep and visit the Chang Family Courtyard. I lose almost all my photos.

It’s crazy how many sheep I saw today. I mean there were a lot of sheep. And they were everywhere – right when I walked out of the door a bunch of them were looking at me:

And this is the last photo that I have from today, because I ended up losing all the others. I don’t know how it happened, but they’re all gone. I thought I had a backup, but I didn’t.

invisible things

Among the things that I can’t show you are some more sheep that looked very funny. Their photos are gone.

Another thing is the massive Chang Family Mansion 常家庄园. It used to be the private estate of a wealthy merchant clan. I walked around in it for a while, through shrines and private gardens, and I found it quite marvellous. But I can’t show it to you, because the pictures are all gone.

One time I noticed an old temple that had been almost completely destroyed in the “Cultural Revolution”. Some villagers told me that it was now being used as a warehouse. But, you know, the pictures are gone.

There were some other things that I remember taking pictures of on my walk from Dongyang to Taigu: some kids, a lot more sheep, and a person glued to a TV screen. I photographed all of them, but…

a backup of a backup

It is a bit frustrating, and I have vowed to not let it happen again. The lesson is this: a backup without a backup is no backup.

Now I’m in a hotel room that has its own bathroom, and I have just washed all my dirty socks again.

I don’t think they will dry by tomorrow.

Hi there, I saw your fantastic time lapse video and thought I would come and check out your blog. I have been working my way through it. What an amazing trip!

I really like your take on sheep. They do look irritatingly happy 🙂
